Instrument Families Grade 2

As part of the second grade unit, Musical Ecosystem (http://www.cde.state.co.us/standardsandinstruction/curriculumoverviews-bycontent#MU ) must learn to identify and categorize instruments into the correct family. I have the students review basics by making a page for their own Musical Instrument Family Book after we discuss each family.

Following the learning of all families students must make their own instrument.

I can't wait to post pictures of some of the completed projects!!!

Hallway wall for everyone!!

I am soooooo excited about the music staff in my hallway at school. The caption is "Each of us a single note, together we create a masterpiece at DSE!" Each note has a student's name and each color is a different class. I am thinking I will leave it up the whole year as a teaching tool, but we will see how that goes.

Anchor charts

So... I'm not sure if anchor charts are for the students or serve as a visual reminder for me. I love the active listening one I made and can refer to to correct or redirect students, it hangs near where I stand in the room. The other chart reminds me what to have the kids look for when examining a new piece of music.
