Music Maestro Chair!!

Each class period one students gets to be the Music Maestro.  (I draw a number and all students in each class are numbered.). That student gets to sit in the chat and control the door and lights for me!  No more fighting over who will do things!! (And yes, I have permission to use this students picture!)

  1. Hi! Firstly, I must say that I'm from Spain, so I apologize if my English isn't good, and I'm sure it won't xD. I'm IN LOVE with your blog. Your ideas are amazing! I's studying for being a teacher and I found your projects very inspirational. I hope you'll continue to post more activities frequently.

Hallway wall for everyone!!

I am soooooo excited about the music staff in my hallway at school.  The caption is "Each of us a single note, together we create a masterpiece at DSE!"  Each note has a student's name and each color is a different class.  I am thinking I will leave it up the whole year as a teaching tool, but we will see how that goes.
Love this for 5th grade first day.  They struggled with the activity, then we discussed that they had been taught all these things throughout elementary school and that they will all be on the district music test in February.  This led us to a discussion about paying attention, practicing, and retaining what they learn while in the music room.

Anchor charts

So... I'm not sure if anchor charts are for the students or serve as a visual reminder for me.  I love the active listening one I made and can refer to to correct or redirect students, it hangs near where I stand in the room.  The other chart reminds me what to have the kids look for when examining a new piece of music.
